I have 10 minutes to write about one of the craziest but best weeks ever, so I hope I can get everything down in time haha! :)
First off thanks for all the birthday wishes! I'm a little confused how everyone knew about my birthday though...hmmm... pero thanks all the same:) I love ya'll:)
This week was awesome, and pretty exciting! Wednesday, a huge storm blew into Baler. On TV it was only supposed to be a signal 1 but turned into a signal 3 (honestly I don't know what that means, but 3 is much stronger than 1 haha). Anyways we had a lot of rain all day but it got really bad that night. We woke up at around 1:30 to the wind shrieking...it was pretty mad! It was the first time I've prayed because I was scared for a long time haha. That morning we woke up and we had a shallow lake in our apartment!! We spent the morning cleaning and mopping up- in the dark because the power was out. We still went out to work though and spent a lot of time visiting the members and making sure everyone was ok. Fortunately everyone's houses were alright for the most part- mild damage lang. The crazy thing though was that when we came back in the evening, our power was still out, even though everyone else had it back!! We got our landlord, who got our neighbor who is conveniently an electrician, and they found out what went wrong: we had kept our fridge plugged in, even when there was no power, and apparently when the power came back on, the outlet surged and sparked and blew out all the wires in the house!! I took a picture of the outlet- it and the wall are all burned!! The electrician said that we were definitely blessed, because it should've burned the house down..what??!!! So yes, we were watched over that day:) Even though it was a little bit of a scary, extreme experience, this storm has strengthened the members' faith a lot. They're still talking about it and we've been able to reach some of the heart's of the less-actives as well as we've served them and expressed concern. I love all these people so much:)
Then on Saturday was my birthday and it was the best birthday ever:) We got to watch the General Womens' Conference and then we had a baptism for two 8 year old twins that we've been teaching. They were so cute and the conference was awesome too:) Afterwards we had a little celebration at Anicia's house because it's her grandson Aaron's bday too:)
Thanks again for everything- for all the prayers and wishes. I know we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. I know this church is true. I know the Savior lives.
Thanks and love you all so much!!!
hugs and more hugs,
Sister Allen :)
