Hello everyone!!
Whew..where to start? This has been a week of miracles! As in I cannot even begin to describe or count how many amazing things happened. It’s been such a special week :)
First off…Sister Elen was baptized last Saturday!! She was so happy and her family was all there to watch. It was wonderful and the Spirit was so strong. She’s so at peace. She’s not only changed spiritually, but physically as well. She used to always looked stressed and tired and worn down, but now she glows with light and with the Spirit. She knows the Lord is there. She had an interview on Wednesday with President Clark, and Sister Rudd and I translated for them. It was such a special time and I was just filled with so much love and gratitude for the Savior and for Sister Elen, and I’m so happy for them both. In her prayers she always says “I will serve you until the end” and I know she will. She’s amazing :)
I mentioned Sister Myla last week and on Thursday, I felt prompted to go visit her, even though she was supposed to be at work. We dropped by and she was actually there! She told us to wait and then hurried and left, which was a little confusing, but we just waited…and waited…until she finally came back, smiling and said that her neighbor, Sister Vangie, wanted to listen! We’ve been inviting and OYMing Sister Vangie for the last 2 months and she always says no…or the next time…or something. But I remember the first time I met her and I remember thinking “she’s going to be so strong someday!” . And so finally! 2 months later, we are teaching Sister Vangie. And she is AMAZING! She’s a little older, but she’s so sweet and strong. She loves all her neighbors and already is talking about holding ‘Bible studies’ at her house for all the sisters and children in Paradise. You’d just have to meet her, but she’s so fun to be around. The only way I can think to describe her is like a little Southern lady…like from the Bible Belt. She’s like that J We went back on Friday, planning on just dropping by and saying hi, but when we got there, she was reading Myla’s Book of Mormon! She jumped right up when we got there and pretty much forced us into chairs for us to teach her! We didn’t have a choice hahaha! She loves the Book of Mormon and pretty much taught herself.. She was so funny, she told us straight up that we’re not important! She said “I need to search and I know the Lord will help me. You’re only instruments, but this is between me and God.” She’s exactly right J And guess what, she came to church yesterday and loved it!! She’s so awesome :)
The Burrugos are still coming to church. Sister Myrna is crying repentance to all her neighbors in the most loving, sweetest and sincerest way. Paradise is blooming :)
I love being a missionary. It’s such a blessing to be instruments in the Lord’s hands. I don’t even care about myself. I just want to do His will and help His children. Like what Sister Vangie said, I am nothing. The Lord is everything J I also know that the people here are incredibly prepared…the people we’ve taught this week have a desire to follow Christ that I have never seen before. They want to follow Christ simply because they love Him, not because of the blessings they’ll receive. It’s hard to describe, but they are true followers of the Savior, and I’m grateful that Heavenly Father has allowed me to be the one to introduce Them to them. His plans are perfect.
Love you all!! Just follow Christ J
